This web site provides information about the United Kingdom and Ireland chapter of BuildingSMART.
BuildingSMART is created by the industry, for the industry. We are an alliance of organisations within the construction and facilities management sectors dedicated to improving processes within the industry through defining the use and sharing of information.
The current work being carried out by the UKI chapter includes:
- BIM training and Accredited Professional status
- BIM & COBie training courses
- ISO development
- COBie, IFC, IFD and IDM development
- Interfacing with buildingSMART international to tackle the international needs for BIM
Organisations within buildingSMART include architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, facility managers, manufacturers, software vendors, information providers, government agencies, research laboratories, universities and more.

The newest buildingSMART UKI bulletin is now available on the website, to read the full bulletin. Bulletin 23 features the buidlingSMART International Paris Committee meeting, as well as access to the corresponding report. It also covers work undertaken by the user group on EIR guidance as well as reporting on the successful delivery of the buildingSMART international summit in Watford, and BIM prospects.
