What is buildingSMART?
BuildingSMART is an alliance of organisations within the construction and facilities management industries dedicated to improving processes within the industry through defining the use and sharing of information. Organizations within the alliance include architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, facility managers, manufacturers, software vendors, information providers, government agencies, research laboratories, universities and more.

Other buildingSMART Chapters serve industry in Australasia (Australia, New Zealand), China, France, the German Speaking countries(Germany, Austria,Sitzerland, Netherlands), the Iberian peninsula (Spain, Portugal and South America), Japan, North America (United States and Canada), Italy, the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and the Baltic countries), Norway and Singapore.
Implementation
Many software vendors are working to bring the buildingSMART vision to reality by developing IFC compliant applications.
